[Thoughts on First Watch] From 3x2 - When We Go

Published February 9, 2026

What the hell is this?

This is an overall dump of my thoughts during my first time viewing of From's third season's second episode, When We Go.

And now for my notes.

So, uh... the end of the last one really felt like we jumped the shark. I'm very concerned about what's going to happen next. I really don't want to be disappointed...

Not the goats eating your silly string monstrosity.

Bro, Boyd, I'm sorry, buddy, but there's no point in this.

What the fuck? Jim and Kenny found food the morning after Kenny's mom died trying to save the town's last viable source of food.

I'm just... boggled by the motivations happening here. I'm willing to be pleasantly surprised at this point, but right now I'm just... concerned by the choices from the last episode.

Anyway, back to Tabitha and Victor's dad, and of course he's a gun-toting lunatic, so... Great.

Ugh, and we still gotta deal with fucking Marielle. Meanwhile, how's shit growing by the lake or whatever it is when it's snowing in town?

ALSO: Tian-Chen died trying to save the food supply for the whole town, and the last thing the fucking town did to her before she died was steal all the goddamn food, making her desperate enough to run out and get the fucking animals.

Where's Donna in all this? Boyd isn't going to be okay any time soon.

Poor Victor, and also fuck this stupid kid! But Christ, did we have to introduce yet another fucking annoying new character? I don't give a flying fuck about Victor's dad.

Donna, girl, no offense, but what on the fucking earth are you talking about? Y'all both need to step down and let someone else take over for a while. Maybe nobody's going home, but it's not the end of the world. Everything's going to be okay. Some of y'all will die soon, some later—same as anywhere else.

Did Fatima's fucking tooth just fall out? I mean, goddamn, I know pregnancy destroys your teeth, but holy fuck.

lmao and now we've gotta tell fucking Kenny. Fuck. Let's go ahead and have a huge audience for this, yeah. Great.

Oh, fuck you, radio! That's just awful. And now you're destroyed. One of my favorite little things about this show, and you went and got yourself bashed in. :(

Woah. Victor's mom was in the normal world and already hearing the children calling to her, begging to be saved. (Are the children just a lure? What the fuck?)

"I believe that the reason I was sent here was to find you." "No. I think you're here for what's in the basement." What the fuck's in the basement???

Poor Jade is just sitting there with the fucking corpse, oh my poor boy. And he's being so sweet to Kristi. I just love him so much.

Oh, I do not like the way Fatima just looked at those rotten crops. She hasn't eaten in days, throws up everything she tries to eat, and is looking like she wants to chow down on what used to be vegetables? Food that Donna says seems like it was grown in "poisoned soil"? Fuck. Is this stupid fucking fetus the reason the soil and the crops and the weather have gone bad?

Oh, ew. Oh, no, I didn't need to see any of that shit. I'm sure it's actually like pastries or something jelly or whatever but yuck.

I feel like after that thing the kid said about death not being so bad if he gets to see his death brother and grandfather and shit... well, now that Tian-Chen is gone, too, I don't think that kid should be left alone. I don't think he's going to be able to handle grief at all.

Oh, damn. I wondered why the water looked weird. It's not water. Kevin is taking all the remaining alcohol so he can go into the tunnels and try to burn the creatures to death. Oh, boy. Oh, boy and oh, brother.

Hey, Boyd, you do remember that you do have an actual son, right?

Oh, that's so sad. That's why he was repeating the Cantonese phrase, so he didn't forget it and could repeat it to Kenny. That's devastating.

I just love Jade so much. When did he get so sweet, what the fuck?

Damn. Victor's mom triggered the visions of the kids after taking acid one last time years after her kid was born, lol.

"She said there were people there. People who were lost and afraid. People who found themselves living inside a nightmare that they couldn't escape, fighting a battle they knew they couldn't win. She said they were holding onto hope, and when that hope was gone, they held onto each other. [...] She said that of all the people who had found their way to this place, she was the one who had been chosen to free the children." (Well, she didn't do a great fucking job, then, did she?) "But she wasn't the first. Others were chosen before her. She could see each and every one. And all of them had failed. None of them had ever set the children free, and none of them had ever gone home."

I don't know that we need more information, Boyd. I mean, we do, but more importantly, I think we need teams. Delegate! Jade and Victor and I guess dumbass Jim are all on the research team. Christi and Marielle are the medical team, Kenny and Boyd and Donna are leadership/enforcement. Assign people to food, exploration, whatever. Compartmentalize and buckle down.

Oh, great. The phone's ringing again. "Dad? It's Thomas." Oh, good—because Jim is such a level-headed guy, I'm sure he'll handle this wonderfully!
