[Thoughts on First Watch] From 2x7 - Belly of the Beast

Published February 9, 2026

What the hell is this?

This is an overall dump of my thoughts during my first time viewing of From's second season's seventh episode, Belly of the Beast.

And now for my notes.

"Women have been giving birth for thousands of years." Yeah, at a death rate of, what, like one-in-four?

Yeah, all I can picture is that scene from The Thing, with that one dude's arms getting ripped off. (I know that was separate from the autopsy scene, but that's not my point...)

So, Dale is going in the box, right? Because he fucking stabbed someone. Or is the box out now that Sara isn't getting capital punishment. There has to be some punishment for that attempted fucking murderer, and he's not even sorry! He's still going on about how the people from the bus should be sacrificed so he doesn't starve—after he tried to force them outside after dark last night! He literally tried to commit mass murder and almost did murder the sheriff's son. Stop letting him pretend he's in the right here, and THROW HIM IN THE BOX. Especially since everyone from the bus knows what he did and is right there in the colony house with him—if you don't get this threat neutralized, you're going to be overthrown within a matter of hours!

I'd be so fucking—wait, no, hold that fucking thought. Jim just pulled his wife outside, demanded "what the fuck is going on with you," and told her off for "undermining" him because apparently "what he says goes." I WANT THIS MAN DEAD.

Anyway, what I was going to say was that I'd be fucking furious if I was Julie because I chose to live in the colony house, not with my piece of shit family, and somehow now Julie's just back living with her awful family again—and then her father completely cut me off by being the most fucking awful he's literally ever been. My jaw literally dropped. That was the most outrageous shit I've seen on this show so far. Who the fuck do you think you're talking do? "Don't you ever undermine me"? Suck my ass!?

OH MY GOD, HE'S STILL BITCHING ABOUT MOTHERFUCKING VICTOR BEING NEAR HIS SON. VICTOR HASN'T COME NEAR YOUR PIECE OF SHIT SON AT ALL, YOU FUCKING IMBECILE. I'm fucking praying for this man's downfall at this point.

Kevin Kenny asking the real questions: what happened to the worms? Are they also dead?

Haha, Jim has no idea how to fucking deal with a man who won't just roll over and do whatever he says. Get fucking wrecked, you piece of shit. I hope you two toxic testosterone freaks fucking kill each other.

Christ, I hate Jim. He's gone full conspiracy theorist. Tabitha sucks, but she doesn't suck so much that she should've ever been with him.

Oh, good, and now Captain Redneck is putting it in Jim's head that "some of the people here are in on it." GREAT.

Well, I certainly wouldn't be alone down there with that creature. What if they eventually resurrect???

I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR RELATIONSHIP DRAMA. YOU WERE NEVER EVEN TOGETHER. SHUT THE FUCK UP, KENNY. Fuck, he's gone so far downhill this season...

Woah. Uh. Marielle supposedly isn't infected with the worms, but she had a whole dream about the music box...

Meanwhile! The plants are all dying. "It's like they're growing in poisoned soil." Followed by Fatima immediately announcing her pregnancy. Foreshadowing, anyone?

Oh, good. "Donna, I was told I can't have kids. [...] And all I can think is this place is trying to torture me? Mock me? Like those things that come out at night, the way they smile at us." Honestly, good theory. If the girl who can't get pregnant magically does... I mean, the one creature who's ever died? His final words were, "I like this game." He liked the game when he thought it was just Boyd slicing his throat and grabbing his neck. Only once he realized the worms were killing him did he suddenly stop smiling. These things are having fun. They're "making fun of" you, literally.

And Donna, this very much feels like bad advice. "A miracle is just the other side of a nightmare."

I don't like Jade bonding with Tabitha. Love Jade. Hate Tabitha. (If it was anyone else, I'd say good, ditch Jim for Jade! But nah, Tabitha sucks too much.)

Woah. Victor just said that autumn is setting in for the first time since he came here. Unless it's not autumn, and the trees are dropping their leaves because they're dying? "When things change here, it's usually bad."

Ew, it's a shriveled human inside. Maybe the worms drained him dry, like, immediately? Or was he already desiccated? (Mummified?) But there's bile left in the body, and they're thinking maybe they can use it as anti-monster poison, which... seems dumb?

Oh, okay, she mentioned the music box and then said, "I think your friend Boyd is giving me his nightmares," so hopefully that means Boyd told them about the music box, not anything more dangerous.

Except now Elgin or whatever his name is, he's seeing the music box too—and there's some mummy lady in yellow or some shit, what the fuck??

(I'm just so worried this is going to be one of those "throw a million things at the wall and never resolve anything" shows... They're doing okay so far, especially because of how much other stuff I like, like the colony aspect, but it's getting to be a lot of little various creepies without answers. Too many creepies without answers, especially if they become too eclectic, is going to be a problem sooner or later...)
